Adidas 5 Great Moments
As you may know, it's the 25-year anniversary of the Adidas Forum sneaker. Adidas latest incarnation is an ongoing series of 5 Forum sneakers that will honor 5 great moments in the NBA. Even if you aren't into the sports element of the series, you might still appreciate the colorways in the series - starting with this first release honoring the Houston Rockets and their fateful day in May of '86. Houston beat the champion Lakers 114 -112, after Rockets center Ralph Sampson hit the game-winning jumper at the buzzer to send Houston to the 1986 NBA Final.
This first "5 Great Moments" release mid Forum sneaker features a colorway you either love or hate. Following suite with the Rockets team colors - the sneaker colorway is a caramel/red/yellow number that sorta makes the sneaker ugly. I say sort of because the sneaker looks good only upon very close inspection. From afar this sneaker looks pretty "blah." On the other hand, it does feature a nice, supple leather upper. The details with the score printed on the side of the shoe "114-122" are a little over the top in my opinion - but hey, they are highlighting five great moments, and this game is one of those Adidas chose. The "Houston Upsets Lakers" laces (they are actually imprinted with this) are a bit much. The yellow insole is nice but it's one of those "upon very close inspection" details - otherwise, nobody would know unless you took them off and pointed out the inside.
The Adidas mid Forum "Rockets" sneaker is available now through select Adidas dealers. It retails for $139.99.
